In 1955, the Department of Transport of Guangxi opened a cadre training class in the name of Guangxi Provincial Highway Transport Cadre School.

In August 1958, “Nanning Transport School in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region” was established. In October of the same year, the school enrolled 197 students of middle school level.

In September 1959, the school officially enrolled secondary vocational school students, offering one class in finance and accounting, one class in highway, and two classes in automobile, with 153 students.

In the early 1960, Guangxi authorities decided to establish Guangxi Transport College (undergraduate) in Guilin, with the Preparatory Office for School Establishment in Guilin established. At the end of the same year, which marked the beginning of the most difficult period of the notorious three years of natural disasters nationwide, the preparatory work was halted.

In 1961 and 1962, due to the downsized staff and urban population, the school suspended enrollment for two years.

In 1964, it was renamed "Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Transport School".

After the outbreak of the Cultural Revolution, normal teaching order of the school was severely devastated, forcing enrollment to be suspended for six years from 1966 to 1971.

In 1970, Guangxi Transport School was merged with Guangxi Shipping School to form Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Transport and Post School.

In 1972, the school resumed enrollment, mainly recruiting students from workers, peasants, and soldiers.

In 1973, the school was renamed Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Nanning Transport School.

In 1978, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Nanning Transport School and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Shipping School were established separately, and the students majoring in ship machinery, ship electrical appliances, and port machinery were assigned to Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Shipping School.

In 1979, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Nanning Transport School was renamed "Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Transport School".

In August 2002, it was promoted to Guangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College.
