School of Automotive Engineering

The School of Automotive Engineering is one of the earliest subordinate schools established by GTVTC for professional teaching. Since initial enrollment in 1958, it has 66 years of educational foundation and experience, embodying the spirit of "believing in the power of engines" and possessing strong educational strength. At present, there are 9 majors offered, including automotive testing and maintenance technology, automotive technology services and marketing, new energy vehicle technology, intelligent engineering machinery application technology, mechatronics technology, urban rail transit mechatronics technology, automotive intelligent technology, intelligent internet-connected vehicle technology, and automotive manufacturing and testing technology. The School of Automotive Engineering is committed to the construction of a school-enterprise cooperation model that integrates industry and education, and combines engineering and learning. Its focus is on improving students' cultural literacy, hands-on practical skills, and the ability to analyze and solve practical problems. It has become a highland in Guangxi for cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents of automotive industry, engineering machinery application, and electromechanical industry.

The School of Automotive Engineering has a solid foundation in education, outstanding achievements, and relatively high social recognition. In the process of running the school, 56 national level landmark achievements have been made, including a national level vocational education teacher teaching innovation team, a national level teaching master, a national online quality course for vocational education, the construction of a training base supported by central government finance, a national skill-oriented badly-needed talent training base, and the first prize (3 items) of the National Vocational College Skills Competition. There are also over 180 provincial and ministerial level honors, including the Guangxi High level Professional Group, Guangxi Excellent Teachers, and the Autonomous Region Vocational Education Demonstration Virtual Simulation Training Base. The Automotive Professional On campus Training Base is a training base for automotive application and maintenance teachers in Guangxi vocational schools. From 2010 to 2022, it hosted four competition projects of the Guangxi Vocational College Skills Competition: automotive inspection and maintenance, automotive marketing, new energy vehicle technology and services, and intelligent elevator installation and maintenance.

The teaching workshop area of the School of Automotive Engineering is 26090 square meters, and more than 150 practical training bases have been established both on and off campus, effectively ensuring the graduation internship and employment of students. Most graduates quickly become technical backbone and main force of the companies. High employment rate, good development prospects, and high corporate evaluation are the significant characteristics of graduates from the School of Automotive Engineering. It has become the only unit among vocational colleges in Guangxi to carry out school-enterprise cooperation among well-known domestic and foreign brands such as Toyota, Shanghai General Motors, FAW Volkswagen, Changan Ford, GAC Honda, and Li Auto, as well as well-known enterprises such as KONE Elevator, Shanghai Mitsubishi Elevator, Komatsu Machinery, and Caterpillar Machinery.

At present, the school has 103 professional teachers, 3 PhD holders, 5 professors, 23 associate professors, and senior engineers; 85% of teachers with dual teacher qualifications; 74% of teachers hold a master's degree or above, 1 transportation technology talent, 3 national transportation technology experts, and 2 national technical experts are hired. At the same time, there are over 80 professional managers and skilled craftsmen from industry enterprises serving as part-time teachers.

Student career mainly targets in technical, management, and teaching jobs in various industry related units such as automobile manufacturing, automobile maintenance, automobile sales and after-sales service, automobile plastic surgery and beauty, automobile insurance and claims, automobile manufacturing, engineering machinery maintenance and management, transportation management and transportation engineering machinery management, electromechanical product design and maintenance, and secondary vocational schools. Among them, female graduates mainly work as car sales consultants, front desk receptionists for car repairs, car parts management, feedback on car repair information, and mechanical and electrical maintenance management.
