School of Economics and Management
The School of Economics and Management was founded in 1958, formerly known as the Department of Management Engineering. With more than 60 years of accumulation and experience, it now has one national high-quality major (modern logistics management) certified by the Ministry of Education, eight "1+X" pilot projects, one training base aided by the central government financial support, and two training bases aided by Guangxi government financial support. It has graduated more than 12,000 transport and economic management talents to various sectors of society, and currently have over 4000 students on campus.
The school boasts 79 faculty members, including 5 professors (with senior professional titles) and 19 associate professors (with deputy senior professional titles); the number of teachers holding master's degree or above accounts for 70% of the total. There is currently one college level key teacher teaching innovation team, two Guangxi technical experts, three teaching masters, and 20 awards won by teachers in provincial skills competitions.
The school currently has two departments offering a total of 10 majors: Transportation Department (Modern Logistics Management, Road Transport Management, Port and Shipping Management, Urban Rail Transit Operation Management, Air Attendant, Postal Express Operation Management), Finance and Trade Department (Big Data and Accounting, Marketing (New Media and Digital Marketing), Business Management, and Human Resources Management)
The school takes skill competitions as the starting point, and through the "seven transformations and eight connections" between skill competitions and talent cultivation, cultivates students' craftsmanship spirit of striving for excellence and daring to innovate. It has received 2 first prizes, 8 second prizes, and 9 third prizes in total at national level; 40 first prizes, 25 second prizes, and 25 third prizes at the provincial and ministerial levels; the efforts made by the school in promoting teaching and learning through competitions have achieved remarkable results.
The school currently boasts one science and technology demonstration project (under construction) of the Guangxi Department of Transportation, with a total of 8 provincial and ministerial level scientific research projects, more than 30 municipal level educational and scientific research projects, and 8 horizontal projects. It has won one second prize for national teaching achievements; One third prize of provincial excellent achievement award; 1 first prize, 2 second prizes, and 2 third prizes for teaching achievements at the municipal level;
Guided by the goal of "making GTVTC a national Double-High school and an undergraduate vocational college", the School of Economics and Management will achieve a new round of development focusing on integration of industry and education, school-enterprise cooperation, integration of industry and education, and integration of knowledge and action.
