School of Navigation Engineering

The School of Navigation Engineering was established in July 2013 by GTVTC to actively adapt to the construction plan of Guangxi's comprehensive transportation system and the needs of the construction of the Xijiang River Golden Waterway. It is the only higher vocational education and training base for maritime talents in Guangxi, the first seaman training qualification unit approved by the National Maritime Administration, and the only subordinate school of vocation colleges in Guangxi with a qualification certificate of seaman education and training quality management system.

Opening characteristic majors to serve the strategy of making China a maritime power. There are 8 majors offered, including Navigation Technology, Marine Engineering Technology, Ship Engineering Technology, Water Transport Safety Management, Port Logistics Management, International Cruise Crew Management, Intelligent Mechanical and Electrical Technology, and Industrial Robot Technology.

Emphasizing skill development and partnering with industry associations to improve talent quality. The autonomous region level seamanship technology demonstration features and practical training base have passed the acceptance inspection with excellent grades; and the modern apprenticeship system is carried out in partnership with China Institute of Navigation and Xijiang River Heavy Industry Group Co. Lte, which has been approved as one of the third batch of pilot units for modern apprenticeship system in Guangxi.

Deepening the integration of industry and education, and jointly establishing a talent training model between school and enterprises. The Guangxi Industry Education Integration Community of Smart Port and Navigation Industry has been approved for construction by the Guangxi Industry Education Integration Community; At present, we have jointly established 7 industrial colleges with shipping companies, including Beijing Xinyusheng Industry College, China Shipbuilding Industry College, Xijiang River Heavy Industry College, and SUPCON Technology Intelligent Manufacturing Industry College. There are 35 off campus cooperative units and training bases, and we basically guarantee that each major has 4-5 stable cooperative student training bases.

Promoting the integration of science and education, and innovating talent training models. The school is awarded as one of the first batch of "Guangxi Marine Science Popularization and Awareness Education Base" in Guangxi; At present, the research platform of the school--the Green and Smart Shipping Engineering Technology Research Center of Guangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College-- has been accepted and passed; The ship engineering technology teaching innovation team is under construction,  and by means of the team platform is engaged in the construction of a major science and technology project in Guangxi, which is mainly tasked with the intelligent manufacturing of ships for the Pinglu Canal under the sub-project of research and application of key technologies for green standard ship design and manufacturing.

Focusing on promoting learning through competitions and improving students' comprehensive literacy. In recent years, students have won more than 70 honors at the national, autonomous regional and municipal levels in vocational skills competitions, "mass entrepreneurship and innovation" competitions, "three to the countryside" social practice and other activities. In particular, the "mass entrepreneurship and innovation" competition has yielded fruitful results, winning one national third prize in the "Internet plus" innovation and entrepreneurship competition, three gold awards, three silver awards and six bronze awards at the autonomous region level. The school also won 1 second prize at the national level, 1 special prize at the autonomous region level, 1 first prize, and 4 third prizes in the Challenge Cup Extracurricular Academic and Technological Works Competition for College Students.

Keeping up with industry demands and ensuring high-quality employment for students. The average employment rate in the past three years has reached 93%. According to third-party survey data, the average salary of graduates of the school is higher than the average level in the entire autonomous region of Guangxi. Over the years, the school has graduated nearly 5000 students of outstanding maritime technical and skilled competence, with a high rate of 96% of praise given by employers to graduates.

At present, the school has accumulated rich educational experience and has formed a group of distinctive majors in navigation technology, with comprehensive strength ranking among the top in vocational colleges in China of the same category and scale of. In 2023, it was awarded as a demonstration department for the comprehensive reform of "Three Comprehensive Education" in universities in Guangxi.
