    The 2024 Forum on International Exchange and Cooperation in Vocational Education and the Inaugural of China-Vietnam Alliance of Vocational Education and Industry Held in Nanning.

    On May 22, theThe2024Forum on International Exchange and Cooperation in Vocational Education and the InauguralofChina-Vietnam Alliance of Vocational Education and Industrywasheld in Nanning. Under the guidance of Department of Educationand Department of Transportationof Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region,the Forum was co-hosted by the China-ASEAN Vocational Education Research Center and the National Joint Conference of Higher Vocational Schools President, andco-organized by the Guangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College and the China-ASEAN VocationalTransportation Education Alliance.

    Leaders from Vietnamese universities and enterprises, as well as leaders from more than 100Chineseuniversities and over 20 enterprises, totaling more than 400 people, attended theForum. Themed“Intercommunication·Integration·Sharing·Win-Win”, delegates sharedthe best practices and experiences of China's international exchange and cooperation in vocational educationso asto promote the implementation of more cooperative projects between China and Vietnam.

    Chen Xiangru,secretary of theCPCCommittee ofGuangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College, delivered a speech at theForum. He emphasized that thecollege would take theestablishment of theChina-Vietnam Alliance of VocationalEducation and Industryas an opportunity to furthergatherthe wisdom and strength of cooperation among domestic and foreign governments, schools, industries, enterprises, and societiesand tooptimizeand innovatethe system and mechanism of international exchanges and cooperation in vocational education. Thecollegewouldprovide high-quality services for the alliance from multiple perspectives and in all directions, to cultivate more talented individuals with good moral character and skills for the construction of both China and Vietnam. He also expressed the hope to make new achievements in promoting the in-depth cooperation and common development of vocational education between China and Vietnam.

    Ren Junqing, secretary-general of theNational Joint Conference of Higher Vocational Schools President, highlighted in his speech that looking to the future, there is a need to jointly explore international cooperation and innovative development in vocational education. He stressed the importance of improving the quality and internationalization of vocational education through more extensive exchanges and cooperation, thereby stimulating more innovative thinking. This would contribute to the wisdom and solutions of vocational education in China, aiding the development of countries and regions along the "Belt and Road" initiative by providing more and better high-quality technical and skilled talents.

    Wang Yi, executive deputy director and secretary-general of theChina-ASEANVocational Education Research Center, remarked in his speech that thisForumrepresents a significant achievement in promoting the integration of industry and education. It aims to build an open cooperation and innovation highland of vocational education facing ASEAN. He expressed hope that theChina-Vietnam Alliance of VocationalEducation and Industrywould fully leverage its functions, deepen the integration of industry and education, and promote the integration of science and education, further enhancing its role as a bridgehead for communication and exchange of vocational education between China and Vietnam.

    Do Nam Trung, Consul General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Nanning, pointed out that the establishment of theChina-Vietnam Alliance of VocationalEducation and Industryis a concrete practice to implement the new positioning of the relationship between the two countries. He believes that through the joint efforts of China and Vietnam, the Alliance will surely promote in-depth cooperation in vocational education between the two countries and play a catalytic role in the building of a China-Vietnam community with a shared future.

    Lu Xiaoming, deputy director-generalof theDepartment of Transportationof Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, said in his speech thatGuangxiwould further deepen and expand exchanges and cooperation with Vietnam in the fields of transportation, education, humanities, etc., and strongly support the promotion of in-depth cooperation between schools and enterprises, and the integration of industry and education, and make every effort to promote the construction of the innovation highland of vocational education openness and cooperation of Guangxi towards ASEAN, and to be a pioneer in theimplementation ofthe Belt and Road Initiative and the Two Corridors and One Economic Circle strategybetween China and Vietnam.


    Li Xiaoyong, deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of the Education Working Committee and member of the Party group of the Department of Education of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, pointed out in his speech that the establishment of the China-Vietnam Alliance of Vocational Education and Industry marks a newachievementand a new starting point for vocational education cooperation between China and Vietnam. The Alliance is expected to fully utilize its role as a bridge to promote exchanges and cooperation in the field of vocational education between the two countries.

    Li Jingbo, Deputy Director General of theCenterfor Vocational Education Development, Ministry of Education,emphasized that the forum providesan excellent platform for further strengthening vocational education cooperation between China and Vietnam. He underscored the necessity of continuously deepening this cooperation and jointly promoting the digital development of vocational education to better serve the overseas development of enterprises from both sides. TheCenterfor Vocational Education Development is willing to collaborate with relevant colleges and institutions in China and Vietnam to continuously enhance exchanges and cooperation in vocational education. Together, they aim to explore a new paradigm of international integration of industry and education, supporting the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative.

    In the keynote report session of the forum, Zheng Jian,Research Associate of Division of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the Center for Vocational Education Development, Ministry of Education,madea keynote report on "Observations and Reflections onChina andforeign Vocational EducationCooperation."

    Wang Yi, Executive Deputy Director and Secretary General of the China-ASEAN Vocational Education Research Center, presented a keynote report on "Assisting China's Vocational Education to Go Overseas and Building the China-ASEAN Vocational Education Community."

    Gao Hong, member of the Expert Advisory Committee for the Construction of High-Level Higher Vocational Schools and Specialties of the Ministry of Education, made a keynote report on "Promoting the Comprehensive Upgrading and Transformation of‘Double-High Construction’."

    The launching ceremony of the China-Vietnam Alliance of Vocational Education and Industry was heldat the Forum.

    Chen Zhengzhen, Secretary General of the China-Vietnam Alliance of Vocational Education and Industry, introduced the formation and work plan of the Alliance.Mr. Bui Manh Linh, Chairman of Vietnam Dong An High-tech Institute, delivered a speech on“Industry and Vocational EducationinVietnam:Jointly build the path forDevelopmentthroughInternational Cooperation.”

    Li Wen Yong,President of Guangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College, presented on“- Practice of Guangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College:New Mode of International Cooperation in Guangxi Vocational EducationbyBuilding China-ASEAN ModernCraftsmanshipInstitute.”

    At the launching ceremony of the China-Vietnam Alliance of Vocational Education and Industry, representatives from the Guangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College and theVietnam Dong An High-tech Institutejointlysigned a contractonbuild the China-Vietnam New Energy Vehicle ModernCraftsmanshipInstitute.

    In the following session of theForum, guests, experts, scholars, educators, and enterprise representatives from various sectors including government, schools, industry, enterprises, and society fromChina andVietnamfocused on topics such as vocational education expansion abroad, branding, cooperation and exchanges under a global perspective, the cultivation of international technical and skilled personnel, the development of emerging industries and opportunities, high-quality vocational resources, and“teaching with output.”Experts and scholars from different fields, along with educators and enterprise representatives, shared their experiences and achievements in areas such as vocational education going abroad, branding, cooperation and exchange under a global vision, the cultivation of internationalized technical and skilled talents, the development and opportunities of emerging industries, and quality vocational education resources. They discussed how to build the China-ASEAN Vocational Education Community through international exchange and cooperation, and shared the paths and strategies for Chinese vocational education to "go abroad."

    Theestablishmentof theChina-Vietnam Alliance of Vocational Education and Industryis a concrete step toward actively responding toPresident Xi Jinping’sinitiativeof“cultivate a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.”Supported by China-ASEAN Vocational Education Research Centerand

    National Joint Conference of Higher Vocational Schools President, and led by theGuangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College, the Alliance was jointly initiated with representatives from colleges, universities, and enterprises in China and Vietnam. Currently, there are 71 director units within the Alliance, all committed to deepening international cooperation and exchanges in vocational education, and promoting resource sharing and win-win development in vocational education between China and Vietnam.

    For the next steps, theChina-Vietnam Alliance of Vocational Education and Industrywillgive its full play as aplatform to promote the exchange and cooperation in vocational education between China and Vietnam. Itwillestablish a brand for international cooperation in vocational education, support China-ASEAN international production capacity cooperation, and create an innovative hub for openness and cooperation in vocational education in Guangxi. These effortsin vocational education will contribute to cultivate a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared futureand a significantChina-Vietnam community with a shared future.
