On 11 April, the opening ceremony of the Belt and Road Chinese Language and Culture Training Class was held in the conference room on the 5th floor of Management Building on Kunlun campus to welcome 20 faculty and students from Satri Wat Absornsawan School come to GTVTC for 10-day Chinese language and culture training. Vice Principal Huang Qiongnian attended the ceremony and gave the welcome speech.
Vice Principal Huang expressed warm welcome to Thai faculty and students’ coming on behalf of the College and quoted a Chinese line from Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, “The kinship and friendship between China and Thailand would last for centuries”, to express how deep the Sino-Thai friendship is. Huang pointed out that Thailand shares a long history with China, especially Guangxi. Guangxi is the only province which borders ASEAN countries on land and communicates with them at sea and is the forefront of CAFTA, and its capital city Nanning welcomes foreigners from ASEAN countries every year as the host city of China-ASEAN Expo. He also introduced recent development of international exchanges the College have done with Thai colleges and exchange programs such as sending volunteer Chinese language teachers to Thailand. He welcomed Thai faculty and students come to study here and promote friendship between China and Thailand.
Ms. Supanee, the Principal of Satri Wat Absornsawan School delivered a brief speech in Chinese. She expressed her gratitude for the valuable opportunities of experiencing colorful Chinese culture and strong folk customs of Guangxi minority offered by the college and welcomed our visit to Thailand. She sincerely hoped that friendship between the two institutes could last forever.
Thai student representative also expressed gratitude for college staff’s reception at the airport at night on 10 April in her Chinese speech and said that she would cherish this exchange opportunity, study Chinese hard in the coming 10-day Chinese language and culture training, get a better understanding of traditional Chinese culture and build the friendship bridge between faculty and students of China and Thailand.
Directors of International Affairs Division, Student Affairs Division, Executive Office, Road and Bridge Engineering Department, Management Engineering Department, Automobile Engineering Department and General Studies Department, and 45 students from GTVTC also attended the opening ceremony.
After the opening ceremony, faculty and students from Thailand visited the automobile training lab, road and bridge teaching workshop, rail transport training lab and logistics training lab. They stimulated the operations of driving subway and logistics facilities, watched logistics operation video via VR and AR technology and performances of calligraphy and tea art.
