On 16 April, faculty and students from GTVTC and Satri Wat Absornsawan School organized “China & Thailand Hand in Hand, Build the Bridge Together” voluntary services and “Celebrating Double-Third Festival Together, Song and Dance Conveying Zhuang love” folk culture experiencing activity.
About 40 young volunteers from GTVTC and 20 faculty and students from Satri Wat Absornsawan School went to volunteer in Danqiao Primary School in the morning, a practice education base of the College. With the theme of ”Caring For Pupils” and embodied in voluntary teaching, volunteers based on their different cultural background, provided pupils with Daily Thai language, Thai Music, Traditional Chinese Folk Custom Experiencing Activities and other lessons and lit up pupils’ art dreams. Pupils of Danqiao Primary School and volunteers communicated in these interesting classes and enjoyed a harvested and wonderful morning. After the service, a Thai volunteer said that she was excited about the opportunity of meeting and getting along with these pupils and was moved by the innocence of Chinese children. If possible, she is willing to participate in this kind of activities again in the future.

In the afternoon, taking Zhuang Double-Third Festival as an opportunity, gathering with Guangxi national characteristics and folk culture experiencing activity were held. The wonderful lion dance performance, folk costume show, folk songs singing and Thai dance performance won applause and cheers from students. The gathering was full of laughter. After the gathering were the interesting folk culture experiencing activities such as bamboo dance, three-people in one sandal, throwing embroider balls, walking on stilts, hoop rolling and lion dance. Local specialties such as five-color glutinous rice, ciba and zongzi were also provided. Students could make fruit platters, paint eggs, taste and serve tea and draw pictures as well.

The successful organization of this activity showed unique Zhuang college folk culture and volunteer spirit of GTVTC’s students, and deepened our friendship with 20 faculty and students from Satri Wat Absornsawan School. In the future, we will based on reality, conduct in-depth construction of the “Cultural Education” and “Practical Education” education platform, hold volunteer spirit and folk culture promotion campaign actively, let the volunteer spirit and traditional culture deep into our campus, enrich campus culture life, improve the cultural and ethical progresses of college’s faculty and students, build a harmonious campus together.
20 faculty and students from Satri Wat Absornsawan School and about 400 faculty and students from Guangxi Transport Vocational and Technical College participated in the activities together.
