On Nov 13,the Chinese Characters Dictation Competition for International Students in Guangxi Universities was held at Guangxi Normal University. Muhammad Wajahat Khan, Sohail Ahmad, Muhammad Kazim Hussain and Rizwan Rafique , the Pakistani students from our college, participated in the competition on behalf of GTVTC. After the fierce competition in the preliminary and final, our college international students team won the second and third prizes for individuals and the third prize for groups.

51 international students from 14 universities in the region participated in the competition. These students came from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Russia, the United States, India, Japan, South Korea, Nigeria, and other countries around the world.

This competition is divided into two rounds: the preliminary round and the final round. Each representative team of the colleges and universities is in a group of three. The contestants must dictate the correct Chinese characters within the specified time, otherwise they will be eliminated. With calm personality and outstanding performance, our international students who don’t major in Chinese language competed with those who are from Chinese language major, successfully advanced to the finals, and finally won the second and third prizes for individuals and the third prize for groups.

After the preliminary preparation for this competition, the international students have improved their comprehensive abilities in listening, speaking, reading, writing and personal psychological quality, expanded their reserves of Chinese characters, deepened their understanding of Chinese characters and the art of Chinese writing, and appreciated the beauty of Chinese characters and the broad and profound Chinese culture.

The international students of our college were well prepared and performed well in this competition, which reflects the great progress made in the education and teaching of international students in our college. The Dictation Competition inspired the enthusiasm of the foreign students to learn Chinese and Chinese excellent culture, gave them the opportunity to learn and communicate with each other, enriched their experiences of Chinese culture, and cultivated the international students who know about China, friendly communicate with China, and admire China by the form of improving learning, teaching, reforming and constructing through competition.
